This lovely number perfectly compliments a pair of ratty jeans or oil-soaked coveralls.

It's also the perfect shirt for watching NASCAR or wrestling... or really, anytime you feel like drinking beer.

Insomnia

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

One of the advantages of not sleeping at night is the opportunity to get a picture like this.

Devil's Garden, indeed.
Devil's Garden, indeed.

There's something about the huge emptiness of a place like this in the dead of night that makes a person feel insignificantly tiny. Add that to the sheer age of the geology and a man feels like a unnoticed spec in the universe.

Yet that vastness brings so much peace. My life is my own. I have no great purpose or even need of one. My place in the universe is the one I carve out for myself.

In this moment, my place was alone on a cold fin of sandstone. I could not have felt more contended and complete.

Well Put

I couldn't agree more. There are many times that I have felt this way while camping. Most people never really take the time to stop and feel their place in the universe.

Yep...

Their tiny, tiny, tiny little insignificant place.

Yeah

Nice words, poetic. I can't wait to be ther under the stars.

Oh yeah?

Well fuck you. :)

your view of insomnia...

is wayyyy different than mine. mine is much more negative.

like, "why the fuck can't i sleep?"

"i'd kill someone if it meant i could sleep right now..."

"who needs sleep?"

Not always...

Insomnia is not always this peaceful, I assure you.

Insomnia

Where's the beaver and Abraham Lincoln in the picture? I don't see them.

Mmm...

Mmm... beaver... Lincoln's beard...

Insomnia sucks a duck.

At least you got a good moment and photo out of it. Rather that than channeling Eponine from Les Miz and singing "On My Own" while wandering around the sandstone formations.

Not that it wouldn't have been HIGHLY entertaining to witness. Hell, it was entertaining just thinking it up.

I have to admit...

I have to admit, Les Miz was sung on this trip. I'm an "Empty Chairs At Empty Tables" kind of guy though.

Not a drag...

Probably for the best. I don't know how you would fly as a girl. ;)

  • I've said it before. I'll say it again. I wish this was my dog.

Or is it wish it were? I always get mixed up on the subjunctive case.
