How about you let everyone know exactly where you're comin' from? Everyone probably knows it as soon as they meet you anyway but it's always best to make things clear.

The Son I Never Had

Thursday, March 1, 2007

"Why do you love Star Wars?"

"Umm... the guys are cool."

"The characters?"

"Yeah."

"Who's your favorite character?"

"Luke... and Darth... but not Leia."

"Why not Leia?"

"She shoots backwards."

Pretty advanced people-reading skills for a five-year-old, if you ask me.

BFF for my daughters?

They would get along fabulously. I'm impressed!

If...

If your girls enjoy acting like a boy, playing with guns and being told what to do all the time, then that would work out just fine.

That describes my girls to a T

When can we hook them up?

Wow!

Five?? Damn, I've been a fan of Star Wars for a long time and never noticed Leia shoots backwards...but she's right!

My 5 year old thinks she IS

My 5 year old thinks she IS a boy. She is always "Michael" when she plays pretend. Guess I better start saving up for that gender identity counseling.

Michael

Michael.. the archangel? Cool!

Buns n' stuff

So not me. I am a wussy girly-girl. In fact, I used to beg to have my hair done like Princess Leia's. My favorite was the one at the end of the first movie: Bun on top with braid hanging down.

My father was always my hairstylist. I guess you can breath a sigh of relief you didn't raise ME.

This one..

This one HATES having her hair done. It's a daily fit just to get a pony tail in.

sci-fi, it's not just for boys anymore

My dad made me into a total sci-fi geek girl. I'm proud of it! You don't have to have a boy to share geeky books and movies with - keep on showing her the cool stuff and when she's 35, she'll bring you all the cool books and go to the movies with you, too!

This is why you must fight

This is why you must fight the urge to stop your heart--Mr. Dunn!

I am the child of a science geek and it made all the difference that my dad included me in all the cool stuff even though I was a girl.

I still remember our trips to the movies on Friday afternoons--where my good Mo' dad took his baby girl to see--Rocky, Predator, Die Hard, and of course Star Wars!

Keep encouraging her and she may come to the "dark side" with you when she is older!

leia gets such a bum rap

and she has such cool hair!

kids. you gotta love 'em!!

What?! Kids these days...

Maybe it's because I was a repressed mormon, but I looked up the Leia. She kicked @ss AND hooked up with Hans Solo! Not only that, but she looked good doing it, too. No g's on that girl during the whole Jabba the Hutt slave thing.

Young girls need role models like that. Look at who they have now- A bald, suicidal Brittney Spears. Blech.

Oh yeah, I'll take Leia any day. ;)
