Remember how funny it was when my daughter sent me this text message? Think how funny it will be when everyone you know is saying, "your mom is a" after everything you say too.
And, I've seen your mom. It's true. She IS a nice piece of lettuce.

A number of people have asked, so I feel obligated to answer, "What's your reaction to the recent PBS documentary 'The Mormons'".
At last, a simple question to answer.
I have no reaction. I didn't see it.
Years ago, before my apostasy from the LDS church, I would have wet myself with giddiness just thinking about four hours of national exposure for my beloved faith. Now, just like the way active Mormons don't care about web sites like this one, I don't care about television coverage about Mormonism. I've heard all I need to hear and seen all I need to see.
As huge an event as this was for among both faithful and many former Mormons, it was hardly a blip on the radar screens of most Americans. Contrary to the sentiment expressed in Gospel Doctrine classes everywhere, other people really aren't all that aware of Mormonism, let alone curious about it. Even among those that happen to be, a very small percentage would be moved one way or the other by any kind of exposure to the history and people of Mormonism.
In other words, I don't think most people give a shit about Mormonism beyond passing curiosity if they are even aware of it at all.
This post has been brought to you by the letter 'F' and the number '8'.

moved?
no. fascinated? yes.
there's a lot more awareness of mormonism out there than there was a few years back, say, before "big love." as a transplant to SLC I get asked about it all the time when I visit friends elsewhere.
and the gay scene in chicago is full of runaway missionaries. life's a funny old thing, innit?
Didn't see it either...
I have begun to reach a point, other than dealing with Mormons daily in my immediate family, that I simply don't care what's going on. I want to be totally uninvolved in that scene, both the in-mormonism and out-of-mormonism crowds. I'd much rather do something fun, like shoot cool photographs of arches, play with my kids, or meet new and interesting people with something unique to say.
In that vein... I had absolutely zero interest in watching the PBS show. Apparently it aroused little interest anywhere else, except among Mormons and former Mormons.
Until they redo the BoM as
Until they redo the BoM as an extended porn (like Rome, but with pioneers in minimal clothing), I'm not even vaguely interested.
