It's All About Me

Special Guest Post By: Donna
Since tomorrow is the fifteenth anniversary of our first date, and of my nineteenth birthday (don't spend too much time doing the math) I thought it was time I formally introduce myself.
My name is Donna and I am married to Pete. We have been married most of those fifteen years and have 4 beautiful girls. And I'm not just saying that because they are mine, everyone says so. Even the ones that don't look like me.
My kids demand a lot of time of me and my poor, worn-out van, Goldilocks III. There's dance practice, piano lessons, three different schools and a herd of friends strewn across the valley. Basically, I live in carpool HELL! I swear these girls were born with legs that were painted on. When I was a kid, my mother never drove me anywhere. I had to ride my purple Schwinn with the banana seat anywhere I wanted to go. And with six siblings, one of us was always being left at a grocery store or zoo.
About a year ago at one o'clock in the afternoon I found myself not dressed and my hair not done. My youngest daughter wandering the house like a homeless child, face filthy and her little sucky-finger smelling like spit. It was time to get a part time job for myself.
I went to school for interperting for the deaf but I have not finished and don't have plans to. And when I go do back to school it will be to study interior design. My dream job would be to star on Design To Sell. To be realistic, I would love to help home sellers stage their cluttered-bad-taste-pictures-hung-too-high-falsely-beliveing-their-decor-is-awesome-not-as-good-taste-as-mine houses. For now though, I work part time helping special-needs kids read and write and wipe their noses.
In my spare time, I'm a molly-Mormon. I love scrapbooking because I never got sick of cutting and pasting in kindergarten. Decorating our house is a passion of mine. In fact, I'm looking for tips on how to disguise a stripper pole in a bedroom when not being used. Anywho, as I was saying... Finding that perfect object at the garage sale is a thrill to me. Pete cringes on Saturday mornings when my mother calls with news of a craiglist.com free-for-all estate sale. I don't know why he worries, we've only been to one where the police were called to break it up. And even then, only one guy was tasered. True story.
Lately, because I'm a theater groupie and watching Pete perform makes my toto tingle like I'm driving too-fast over a tiny little hill. I find myself making sweet love to Pete's on-stage characters. Sorry ladies, don't bother leaving your number at the box office. I'll scratch your face off. *HUGZ*
I really could. I'm super fit. This summer I lost fifteen pounds by eating right and excersizing. I have ten more pounds to go before I am back to my high school weight but I finished the summer by running my first 10k. Go me. That's just the beginning too. I have plans to run another 10k in December. So don't bother running away. I'll catch you.
See... I can be funny sometimes. Making Pete giggle like a girl is one of my goals in life but, as he points out, I am joke-impared. I'm funny but I don't have any comic timing. But I try.
I really am a totally groupy. I love the diversity of friends we have from the theater. I like to make connections with people, sometimes especially those that are not of my religion. Sometimes I secretly wish I was Jewish so my daughters could have a big Jewish wedding. Mazel tov.
You have to know, that though I hate when he flirts, I've decided that flirting is just part of Pete's personality. I know this because on our second date, he flirted with our waiter. And trust me, despite all the same-sex grab-ass they play backstage, he's not even a little gay. All the girls say so. As long as it's my sweater he taking off at the end of the date, I'm good.
Most importantly, I have recently decided that I am going to be me no matter what anyone else thinks... including Pete. I have to be true to myself.

Happy B-day!
And congrats on your first 10-K! I cried like a little baby when I crossed the finish line of my first. (After having lost a metric ton of blubber).
Lesson learned!
Ok, Good I am not crazy! I wanted to cry when I crossed the finish line, but I had to pooh to bad. If I could teach you anything, Go the bathroom before you run a 10k.
This site could use a little
This site could use a little girl power. Pete colors himself clever, but truth be told you have to have ovaries for that. Your insight will be a nice change.
I hope to see many more posts with your name attached.
Have a happy birthday!
It's All About Me
Go Donna!!
I've been reading Pete's blog for about 8 months, and have enjoyed his direct style of writing, and his willingness and ability to "expose himself".
The most interesting parts, for me as an inactive, non-believing LDS, have been the posts in which he talks about the tension caused by his lack of belief in mormonism. But I've always wondered what *you* were thinking (not just what Pete thinks you're thinking).
My wife is TBM, as you seem to be, but we cannot talk about our differences because she feels so threatened by them. I'm hoping that the ongoing dialogue between you & Pete might help me in relating to my darling wife.
Please post often.
My five cents..
Remember why you feel in love with her in the first place and work on that.
Oh, and Happy Birthday!!
Oh, and Happy Birthday!! ((Donna))
On your way...
First, let me wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Donna!
I think you are well on your way to needing to attend blogaholics meetings. There are many of us out there. Now, you just need your own blog.
Happy Birthday Donna!
Yep, some femaleness on this page is much needed (I know, Pete, you are starting to feel unwanted but that really isn't the case).
Keep on keepin' on!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Donna - and thanks for posting. Hope to see ya again soon!
Happy birthday Donna! Have
Happy birthday Donna! Have you ever thought about having your own blog? Your writings are just as entertaining as Pete's. You sound like an awesome lady! Look forward to seeing more of your posts!
I found Pete's blog about 6
I found Pete's blog about 6 months ago when I was trying to find info about something Mormon related (I'm a TBM). I kept reading because My husband's not a member, and I was fascinated by how you guys work that kind of relationship. I just wanted to say it's awesome that you're posting and that this post is a little bit of a relief because Pete can be a little heavy on the angst. (No offense, Pete. That's what makes your blog interesting. It can just get a little depressing sometimes.) Happy birthday, Donna!
See baby?
That wasn't very painful at all. I'm proud of you and your new-found zeal for life.
Happy Brithday
Happy Birthday Donna, It is so wonderful and refreshing to read a post from you. You sound like a wonderful lady and Pete is very lucky to have you as a wife. I hope we see many more posts from you.
Request for next post
I wanna hear the rest of this story :)
"we've only been to one where the police were called to break it up. And even then, only one guy was tasered. True story."
Happy Birthday
Congrats on your 10K, I celebrated my 50th by running a 1/2 marathon 3 weeks ago, keep running. Petes blog is addictive. I envy the view I have of your relationship, You are able to at least communicate on a higher level than I can with my spouse, she has no tolerance for an opposing belief and shuts right down when threatened. So except for usually celebrating saturday mornings we go our own way. Wish I had some theatre opportunities nearby as I have been in several porductions but since moved to the outback of ND so I sing karaoke. Cheers to Donna and Pete!
Donna...
...you have a real talent for writing. Why not start your own blog? You could tell us the truth about all the BS Pete writes and expects us to believe. :)
I have a big head...
Thank you for all the positive words.
