Ever wonder why it only takes 30 minutes to drive to BYU but it takes 45 to get back? It's because Provo sucks. If you absolutely have to visit our neighbors to the south, be sure to let them know how you feel about it.

The Proxy Blog Post

This video sums it all up. There's not a finer example of the Utah accent anywhere on the web. You also get to see, in its natural habitat, an honest-to-blog Utah swear word.

The girl in the video even says at the end that she can't post it on her blog because she swore.

Don't worry. I'll post it on mine.

I feel perfectly comfortable poking a little fun because no one has a thicker Utah accent than I do. I mean... than me.

oh wow...

Utah is so freakin sad... "son of a biotch"... wow. I'm so glad I'm moving out of this state in a few weeks.

Biotch

Son of a Biotch..did you know that if you can't read your Validation code and type it incorrectly it just gives you a big red warning and then goes back to the post. That sucks.

What I had said now seems stupid typing it the 2nd time but I will anyway.

Utah accent? I didn't know there was one. I thought only New England and Southerners had accents.

Fer Sure

You know how everyone in the South says, "y'all" all the time. The Utah accent is the same except it's "oh my heck" this and "oh my heck" that.

Grammar

You're not so up on apostrophes yourself, Pete. That it's should be its - the possessive its has no apostrophe.

right you are

Yep. Blame my Utah public school education.

I actually know that but overlooked it.

That's funny - I'm from

That's funny - I'm from Wisconsin and didn't notice any accent from either of them!

On the other hand, people here think *I* have an accent. Oh no! Maybe I have a Utah accent! he he!

Minnesota Accents

Utah "accents" may not be entirely noticable, but I'll tell you right now it's so funny listening to people from Minnesota.

It's always "ooooh you bet'cha" or "don'tcha know?" or "oofta!"

so freakin funny.

  • I've said it before. I'll say it again. I wish this was my dog.

Or is it wish it were? I always get mixed up on the subjunctive case.
