Damn Super Bowl. Concurrent with the Expo were the final days of Cincinnati Beer Week, and it was easy to distinguish the difference, as the Beer Week crowds were the ones on the PedalPubs. As with many in the industry, motorcycles were a passion that became a profession. The machine techniques used to create the Tulsa allow for a wheel with more depth than a traditional, symmetrical design, and it allows this design to stand out. Realizing everyone is on some sort of budget these days, Renegade also has a new hub that allows the consumer to keep their stock floating rotors so they can minimize their initial investment in custom wheels and upgrade to matching Hawg Halter rotors when their budget allows.

Many things have already been said about the rivalry between the 12th edition ofby Easyriders Feb. In this competition for the V-Twin professionals, the V-Twin Expo has decided to keep its former years formula unchanged, arguing on the efficiency of its trade show via testimonials from a few some of its long time exhibitors. The Indianapolis Dealer Expo claims to have attracted some key industry exhibitors by promising them a better return on investment and a wider audience of V-Twin dealers, belonging to both the American and Metric segments of the V-Twin market.
We will know very soon … to follow…. The American International Expo in Fall is going to kill both trade shows. The new show will be both B2B and B2C. In this market, the only way to attact great exhibitors, lots of dealers and a large crowd of visitors.
Easyriders and Advanstar are managed by people over the hill since quite a few years. Lesson to be learned very soon. Sorry,, Bruce E. Indy was been tried twice before and failed! Yes, Cinci and Indy are ran by persons that are doing the same thing they have done for the last 12 years and now, when times are tough, they just do what they have always done!
I have seen that in most if not all Business I have seen over the last 20 years. The V-Twin industry only needs and can only support One Dealer Show, Now we have brothers in arms after them dollar and customers.
If any Show will serve, it will be the one that caters the the V-Twin Dealer market. The one that will not let the show get cluttered with vendors that V-Twin dealer do not want to See or dealer with. I think you are wrong.
Read what Cyril wrote a few days ago. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there. Cincy Expo is whatever you put into it you will get out of it….. Could it be held on a better weekend or in a warmer climate?
See ya there! The Cincy show is the only show that any serious V-twin business will be properly represented at. The industry people know this.
Custom Chrome is the anchor for the Indy show and that is one anchor that is quickly heading to the bottom anyway unfortunately. It will fail and those that only can attend one show will be back to attend the V-Twin Expo by next year. If Indy really wanted to compete with Cincy it would have the show the same weekend. We can all be in one building on the same weekend and maximize the exposure to the struggling industry that we all love. I also love to see all my friends there too. Indy is basically a buffet and I like to eat off the menu.
It took losing the bulk of the V-Twin market to get Indy to change their way of thinking. But after losing that market and giving Cinci the opening to start and build a dealer show, they have changed and now at Indy v-twin will be v-twin, no more snow mobiles and lawn mowers in the v-twin section. Imagine that using common sense again. The cost at Cinci. The greed of these show promotors seems to make them think that the dealers and vendors have no choice but we do and will display that choice by not supporting the show if needed.
And with out vendors displaying they will have No attendees therefore there will be no show. Cinci needs to lower their prices back down to reality and they need to have their show on a different weekend, I am possitive that the venue cost less because it is Superbowl weekend but that and the winter dealer show for HD happening at the same time is killing the show and now that Indy is getting their show back on track Cinci better wake up before it is too late.
The fact that the show is Superbowl weekend and HD also has its winter dealer meeting at the same time means that most owners of HD dealerships do NOT attend.
So the bottom line is that Indy is getting better because they were losing big business and now they have seen the light at last and Cinci must look at and follow the same path or they will find them selves in the same sinking ship that Indy found them selves in when they refused to change.
I personally believe both shows can survive but just as Indy has changed so must Cinci change now or they will lose huge just like Indy had lost before they decided to change. I wish both shows well but both needed and still need some changes. Bruce E; The American International Expo in Fall ; All I have heard about this show is it is going to happen and it will kill both shows but Where will the show be?
What will it cost to both vendors and attendees? Will it be a retail show as well as a dealer show? Being cocky is what hurt the Indy show promotors. And remember just because Cinci got their show going rather easily does not mean another pomotor can now jump in and kill both shows.
Let alone as easily as it did get started. And now The American International Expo in Fall has both dealer shows to compete with and Indy has learned its lesson and I would bet Cinci will not be far behind in learning theirs as well. I wish you good luck but it will not be as easy as just saying your show is the best.
If that show even makes it, it would take more than just saying it is the best to actually be the best. Talk is cheap show us some reality then we can decide if we will back your show. Honestly, the Indy show is the place to do business. Cinci is the place to hang out with your friends.
Fact is, the attendees at the Cinci show are not buyers. I get the anger at the snowmobiles and stuff, but that draws dealers. You look at a Yamaha dealer and they sell boats, jetskis, quads, dirtbikes, sportbikes and cruisers. Also, look at where people come from.
You go to Indy and you will see dealers from Finland, Australia, Japan, Dubai, Russia and tons of other countries coming to the show. At Cinci? Now, Advanstar sucks. They are money grubbing a-holes, but they are no different than Paisanos! Look at who wins the industry awards at Cinci each year?
The big companies who go back year after year to the show win the awards. Look in the magazine and see all the new product spotlights? Notice how all those companies have ads in the magazine too? Notice how big-name first-year exhibitors can get space front-and-center at the V-Twin expo but if you have been doing the show for years, you can still be in the back corner? I am very excited about the prospect of this new show. Time will tell. I am not too sure about the timing either.
Anyone who makes parts in this business knows that fall is just when you are going into the slow season. At least with Indy, it starts off the season with a bang. My favorite time of the year, better than Christmas Temp in Cincinnati on Sat. Cyril, look forward to seeing you again, as well as all the rest of you ……. V-Twin Expo is also the better of the shows for the small independant shops in my opinion. Thats my take for whatever its worth.
Should be an interesting weekend to say the least… Fewer dealers going, superbowl weekend, and now I heard custom chrome is not going to be there in which they had one of the biggest booths er, tent spaces at this show??? Hey smokin…. Face it! As was said earlier, fall is NOT the time for a trade show….. I think you are misinformed. Because of lack of results. CCI will be in Indy. I have this info from a CCI employee. The intention was to do both shows as Indy was a freebie as part of a deal made with Advanstar to do several Cycle World shows.

V-Twin Expo. Cinci is a waste of time, see ya in Indy! All are marketed differently and sold differently!!! I am always surprised at the love for the Cincy show and the hate for the Indy show. The new show is exactly at the wrong time of the year.

With a first edition in February in Cincinnati, the V-Twin Expo by Esyriders was an annual trade show dedicated and reserved to all professionals of the V-Twin industry. Cinci is nicer than Indy, but barely. The Superbowl is on Sunday evening and the show has very few visitors after Saturday mid-afternoon. What a joke. Rent the smallest exhibitors room….

14th annual V-Twin Expo: Tricks of the trade |
With a first edition in February in Cincinnati, the V-Twin Expo by Esyriders was an annual trade show dedicated and reserved to all professionals of the V-Twin industry. Held at the Duke Energy Center, vendors were showing their new aftermarket parts and accessories to opinion leaders, journalists, distributors and motorcycle dealers while many seminars were held on the topics of the day.
When the big economic recession hit In the trade show began to struggle with each year less vendors participating and less dealers visiting it. Manufacturers tight marketing budgets, expensive exhibitor booths and cheap competition from internet letting vendors announce and explain their new products all year long accelerated the demise of the V-Twin Expo by Easyriders, one of the Assets of Paisano Publications LLC.
I have many copies of Easy Rider magazines ,tucked away in boxes and interesting to look back at. Then the Billet Queen , movie star ,look at me trends started. People that had ridden all their lives were glad to see the back of it when it finaly disapeared.
The back yard builder and small shops were where they should be, at the top again. I think allot of Bike people saw the Easy Riders pandering to the look at me crowd as a snub. The print media industry is struggling though the niche old school Mags will survive.
Should have been shut down 10 years ago. All vendors I know said to me that they lost money exhibiting at the Expo.
All vendors understood that it was a show to benefit Easyriders magazine and its advertisers. Easyriders kaput too? It was the best trade show to meet with friends at night time and lose money all day on the show floor. No MC print mags will survive. Easyriders is like the V-Twin Expo a few years ago. Now for sale because dying. Too late. Bikers want instant news and good bikes are sent to digital mags by builders who want instant gratification.
Easyriders the most read mag in prisons. No more since 3 decades. Inmates are now too young and not interested by bikes. Thank you for the pleasure, innovation Easyrider was my go to since day one I graduated from A.
I hope that AIM expo can pick up ths slack. When the VTwin herd becomes a recognized industry: with attributes such as paid dues, a yearly show that presents constituents well, a governing body, standards of business behavior etc.. The VTwin business needs to become an industry — and quickly too. These people at V-Twin Expo were somewhat arrogant thinking nobody could do business without them. Way too bad….. Another nail in the coffin of the after market HD industry. None of the others compare or even come close….
The V Twin Show was always good for us both at American IronHorse and Rucker Performance it gave us time to sit down and meet face to face with many of our dealers, suppliers, and industry friends.
We made many good contacts in the industry and always had a place to see many fine products new to the industry. I also want to thank Joe, Jim, Grady and the many others that have been involved in the VTwin- EasyRiders group that helped us through out the years of our friendship and business relationships.
The AIM show has such a large footprint, that we shall get lost in its rush to be all things to all companies, just as the other motorcycle trade shows have done over the past two decades.
Its not much about the bikes and working on them yourself. I read Easyriders for laughs when it started. Welcome to the Internet hurting another Trade, but it does help make meny People that are good with key Strokes very wealthy.
The Guys that are ave amazing Hands and are so talented are left trying to catch up. Sometimes you can find a combination of the Two and we get a Guy like Cyril. Thanks for that! I thought the AIMExpo was a good show. Something for everyone is what I saw. I think it should be moved to Feb. Winter time makes more sense. Tis a very SAD day for me!! The editors of Easyriders, Hot Bike, and American Bagger that took an interest and encouraged a local upstart that knew nothing about moto-journalism.
By the way, yes, I even interviewed Cyril there, once!!!! Dyna Nostalgia. The print media industry is struggling though the niche old school Mags will survive And the beat goes on. Out of 17 years, the show was a losing proposition during about 12 years. Some continue to not understand that the world has changed forever…. I always enjoyed my time at the V twin Expo. So, you think Cyril Huze got wealthy thanks to his news website? Pros and cons are all valid.
After 08 you just knew it was never going to come back great expensive weekend to meet up with your friends sturgis is way better and cheaper and wayway warmer ANOTHER KILLER no one mentioned is the drag show in Aug Its the real place where new products are first shown in so many cases!!
